Octobers Textile and Fibre Art

PSI's

Blue's textured fibre panel

A long way to go yet on my Building Blocks Quilt which will end up with a very contemporary finish to a traditional block. This is just a small part of it that I have sewn this month.

I've had this lovely textured yarn for a while. I always knew it would look great in the Lover's Knot stitch, but had no idea what to make with it. I have now decided that it will be a summer tunic "cover-up" for me, and this is what I have done so far. I'm very pleased with how the stitch looks with this yarn.

Well that's about all the textile art I have done this month, apart from a needlefelted bear that isn't quite finished and I haven't got a photo of yet....... so watch this space, lol.

My Rothko Paintings

My Rothko Paintings

I think that Mark Rothko's paintings are absolute abstraction-ism (if there is such a word, lol). He was the master of abstract painting and a minimalist at its best.

I know some people do not understand Mark Rothko's paintings, or any abstract art for that matter, and I'm not here to try to convince anyone of his excellence or wave the flag for abstract art (everyone is entitled to their own opinions and to see, feel and do what they like). But to me they each represent an image in my mind, and I thoroughly enjoy studying his artworks.

Here I have created my own "Rothko-style" paintings, and each one either 'speaks' to me and leaves an image within me, or came from an image already in my memory bank.

The following picture is from the set of My Rothko Paintings above (middle one in the top row).
I have added the poem that I wrote which is the inspiration for the painting.

It's Time To Paint

It's Time To Paint

Acrylics used as watercolours.

Glass Painting

White Knight's Green and Red Glass Stain spray paint with Gold  Marble Web top coat.
White Knight's Blue Glass Stain spray paint with Silver Marble Web top coat.
Meths and a soft cloth needed to clean the glass first.
Handle the glass on the inside only, as fingerprints on the outside is not good and stops the paint from sticking to the glass.
If you are wanting to have a go at this craft, please do it in a well ventilated room.
Meths and spray paints can be harmful if inhaled.
Masking tape was used as a resist from the paint around the stem of the blue glass to give areas of clear, unpainted glass.

All the parts cut from card and decorated accordingly.
Then attached all the parts together with small split pins.

One day I might get the time to put all the individual photos into a slide show that will look like she is really dancing.
